Today we are celebrating Tara Frey’s newly released book, Blogging for Bliss. Even if you are a seasoned blogger or just thinking about starting a blog, Blogging for Bliss is an informative guide to all aspects of blogging. I am honored that Raised In Cotton is one of the blogs featured in this wonderful new book along with many other super talented creative bloggers. In 2005 when I started my blog, I had no idea the number of new friends I would make. That is why I refer to all of you as “Dear Friends” for all the inspiration and support you have shown me. Who knew that four years ago my innocent attempt at announcing the new shop I was opening with two of my nursing friends, would evolve into a huge part of my life.
Here are a few blogging tips (many more in the book) that I have used over the years that I have found helpful:
1. Have a purpose! My blogging purpose is stated in my banner; “Fresh picked ideas for simple living” This really is pretty easy for me since I love to share my creative projects and thoughts with you.
2. Linking is Blogging. In other words, to keep the blogging world alive and viable, link to other favorite sites that you find interesting. Connecting is the backbone of blogging and the perfect way to make new friendships.
3. Post beautiful photographs on your blog. Treat your blog as your own mini publication and take the time to post the best possible image you can. I recently wrote an entire article for Artful Blogging on this same subject.
4. Find the best posting routine and stick to it. I try to post about every 3-4 days if I can. I actually plan my posts out a week ahead which really helps with the flow of ideas.
5. Be authentic in your blog voice, be humble in accepting any type of blog praise and most of all have fun.
So Dear Friends come with me over to Artsy Mama’s Blog for the book launch party and celebrate the wonderful world of blogging.
In honor of this lovely new book, I am giving away a copy! Just leave me a comment:)
