~Memory Board~ Vintage embellished idea for you~
1. Old frame
2. Stretched canvas to fit
3. Material and cotton batting
4. Staples or tacks
5. Vintage buttons and trims
Measure your material and batting to fit the front and sides of your canvas. Be sure to leave about 1/2" so you can bring the material and batting to the back. Lay the material right side down, batting and then place the front side of the canvas on top. Fold the material and batting over the back edge of the canvas tightly and start stapling or tacking down. When you get to the corners, you may have to cut the excess material away to form a snug closure. Continue all the way around until you have the canvas covered. Now take your desired trim (I used some vintage chenille rick rack) and add to the front tacking the ends to the back. Place your canvas either inside or on top of the frame securing with small nails tapped into the wood to hide. To make the decorative button tacks~glue a favorite vintage button to the top of a flat headed tack. Add a chain or wire to the back of the board to hang!
Another tip* RIT Tan Liquid Dye is my all time favorite way to "age" a piece of fabric. I used the dye on this piece of fabric to go with the old frame. Then I strung some dollar store glass heart ornaments on a piece of red seam binding for a garland. So much fun!
