Yesterday as it was snowing, I decided to make some ice lanterns to adorn my frosty filled bird bath. I have made these or a version of for several years and they are oh so simple. I used two sizes of dollar store plastic cups and placed cranberries in the bottom and poured water halfway up in one. The second cup I just filled with water and placed it inside the cranberry filled one. It acts as a weight for the cranberries and makes an indentation for your candle. You can either leave the cups outside if cold enough or place in your freezer. After frozen, remove the top cup and then run a little warm water over the bottom of the cranberry filled cup to unmold. I have filled these with everything from berries, fruit and greenery. Using these little ice lanterns are perfect to grace a walkway or patio, especially for the Holiday's.
